THE SITUATION

Vertosa is a pioneering biotech company delivering some of the most effective, reliable active ingredients for cannabis-infused products. When they first came to us, they were operating under the name Nanogen – a nod to science and technology, but one that missed the mark on the natural and human aspects of their work. Their logo was equally understated, lacking the energy and meaning behind their innovation.

THE SOLUTION

To unlock the brand’s full potential, we created the name Vertosa: a blend of Vert- meaning both green and truth; and -osa, meaning bear, a nod to the strength of the brand and its California heritage. The name also evokes virtuoso, a subtle cue to their unmatched expertise in the space.

THE EXECUTION

To reflect the brand’s focus on harmony – between science and nature, products and people – we drew inspiration from the symmetry of the name itself. The mirrored V and A bookending “Vertosa” formed the basis for a modern yin-yang symbol, capturing balance and intention. Slate gray anchors the brand with a sense of reliability, while the green we chose is grounded in the true, natural color of the cannabis plant’s potent cones.

THE RESULTS

Since the rebrand, Vertosa has rapidly expanded its reach, building partnerships across the supply chain and collaborating with over 100 retail brands. The new identity has elevated the company's impact across all its audience touchpoints and helped propel the company forward.
